M Wimberly's Project


At Arkabutla Lake there is a large area that was eroding away. Large rocks have been placed in the area to reduce erosion, but these are not a permanent solution. My project was to plant ivy across the area to prevent the erosion, and azalea bushes to improve the look of the park entrance and to reflect the beautiful condition of the park inside.

Here are some pictures of the area before the work was done. As you can see, large rocks are placed to attempt to control the erosion, but plants are needed for the bare topsoil.






The project was completed on 5/16/08 and took 131 man-hours to complete. Much of the materials and tools were donated by workers, some by the Corps of Engineers..
